best sushi joint ever.

Yesterday, hubby and I went to Eaton Center to shop for him. He needed some dress shirts for his new job. We were planning to have Soon Tofu but decided to try Japango last minute. I have been talking about trying Japango forever after reading a review on Now magazine.

Japango is a very very small sushi joint. Only have around 20 seats. We were very early, around 5pm, so we have no problem getting a table. Hubby ordered the sushi deluxe dinner and I have Unagi Donburi and Hamachi sashimi. The dinner came with miso soup and salad. Everything was exceptional. OK, maybe not the tea. Miso soup tasted like miso soup and not some watered down version. The salad was exceptional. The dressing was not the typical Japanese salad dressing. It had lots of minced ginger in it. Lettuce leaves were fresh, not wilted down. I was so excited for my sashimi and main course after I tasted the salad and soup cause it's living up to the review. My hamachi sashimi came first. It's really fresh. But I would like the sashimi to be bigger. Ugagi Donburi was good too. Hubby's deluxe sashimi had 12 nigiri and 6 maki. The maki was not your standard fare like california rolls or cucumber rolls. It's shrimp tempura maki. Needless to say, the nigiri was really fresh.

I asked them about the omakase. It's 65/person. Now I have to go try it and have to bring my camera next time.

Japango is now my favorite Japanese restaurant. The only thing though, it's not cheap.
