my weekends are so boring

What can I do to make my weekends less boring?

Last weekend wasn't so bad. We went to the St. Patrick's Day parade in Toronto. We took some pics. Not too happy with my pics though. Hubby's was better this time.

This weekend is again a boring weekend. But I did put away 3 boxes of books to throw out. Definitely need to clean the spare bedroom and the office. At least, that will be an accomplishment when it's done. Watched 3 episodes of Heroes. A few more episodes to go. Need to find a site to download tv shows for my Creative Zen M.

Rogers is shutting down their TDMA/Analog network sometime in May 2007. For that, Rogers is having this awesome deal to upgrade the customers that are still on the network to a new GSM phone, for FREE!!! Since my phone is so ancient, I am one of the lucky ones. The phone retails for $89.99.

transexual and the work place

First heard this on As it happens podcast.

Steve Stanton from Largo, Florida was fired from his job as a city manager because of his plan to get a sex change. Steve is a transexual. He had been a city manager for 14 years. He was planning to annouce to the city that he is a transexual and his plan on having the sex change operation in the summer. However, he was 'outed' by one of his confidantes leaking the story to the press. He had no choice but to go public, and subsequently fired by the city.

This whole thing is sad. I feel sorry for his son having to deal with all these publicity. I can understand people's discomfort in this, but I strongly disagree with the city firing him. They are discrimnating him because of his gender. Too bad that his contract with the city allows them to fire him without clause. As to the 'friend' that betrayed him, it's classic, isn't it? Otherwise, what else is new with human if we don't back stab each other?

I want an iPhone. I definitely cannot afford it. It's going to be available through Rogers in Canada. The data plan is a hefty $100 per month for 200MB. The phone itself will probably be around $600. This is just too too much. The phone is super cool though. I want the phone. I want the phone. I want the phone.

grrrr... it's freezing!!!

It's freaking cold today. I think this morning was -18C, with windchill more like -28 or -30. At least, we didn't get any more snow. I wouldn't know where to pile the snow anymore. Snowbank in front of my house is almost as tall as me. Have real trouble seeing the road when I am pulling the car out of the driveway in the morning. So much for global warming. ; )
